Lori Short began her career in the field of behavior therapy in 2009 after receiving her BA from Temple University. She began working with children and adolescents, providing behavioral support to individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities. In 2012, Lori obtained her MS in Applied Behavior Analysis from Saint Joseph’s University and shortly thereafter became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS). She has contracted with both Delaware County and Montgomery County Intermediate Units to provide behavior analytic services in the Early Intervention Program and has sound knowledge of the IEP process. She also worked with military families in the tri-state area (PA, NJ, DE), providing services to individuals across the life span, in the school, community, and home settings.
After working with different therapy providers over eight years, Lori was inspired to open an agency to promote individual growth across clients, caregivers, and staff. In April of 2016, Lori founded Stepping Stones Therapeutics, LLC (“SST”) to bring to this idea to fruition. SST was not only founded by a therapist but continues to evolve by a group of dedicated and experienced practitioners.
A cornerstone of SST is a comprehensive and collaborative approach with parents/caregivers and other related disciplines that optimizes the client’s success. SST values and emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, team cohesion, and continues to strive to maximize each individual’s full potential.
Upon working with a new client, individual assessments are administered to determine areas of focus for skill enhancement. A centerpiece of our clinical evaluations is taking parent and caregiver input into consideration to develop individualized treatment plans with detailed and measurable goals. Progress is monitored frequently, and modifications are tailored specifically to meet the individualized needs of the child or adolescent. SST believes in a child-led approach to therapy dedicated to providing evidence-based techniques. Our goal is to enhance developmental milestones, extinguish maladaptive and impeding behaviors; as well as, teach parents and other professionals the necessary skills needed to facilitate effective intervention and generalization.
Stepping Stones Therapeutics believes in cultivating an environment for practitioners to grow and develop, within an agency that promotes team collaboration. We encourage our staff to maximize their full potential. SST currently staffs a dedicated group of: Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT), Behavior Health Technicians (BHT), and Speech Language Pathologists (SLP). We encourage and support all staff to continue to pursue further education and further their experience in the field.
